Grab your Adidas top and prepare to dance like it’s Popstars Vs The Heavenly Social, as The Hog joins forces with Noise of Art for a NYE shin dig.
Referencing the fad for things mid-Nineties, the night sees re-formed Top 20 Brit Pop era indie band, Salad, play one of their first gigs in 18 years.
They are joined by Diesel (of Xpress 2 and Rocky and Diesel fame), who was part of one of the most succesful UK house acts of the '90s - their hit single Lazy, with David Byrne, went to Number 2 in the British singles chart.
Formed by model and MTV presenter Marijne Van Der Vlugt and Paul Kennedy, Salad’s debut LP shot straight into the Top 20 in 1997. Sadly their career came to an abrupt halt when the band split two years later.
Having vanished for almost 20 years, they suddenly played a couple of festival gigs earlier this year. At the Shine On Weekender they drew such a big crowd that the Guardian noted you had “to crane your neck to get a glimpse of Salad”. At The Hog you’ll be able to see them without having to do any neck-work.
Joining them are ‘90s Glastonbury headliners The Woodentops, whose frontman, Rolo McGinty, will round off his current UK tour with a special performance of his new solo show. Their anniversary single, Why Why Why, has just been re-released by Wall of Sound records to much critical acclaim.
Noise of Art’s Ben Osborne, whose appearances include such prestigious London venues as National Portrait Gallery, Tate, National Theatre, QEH and BFI, as well as Latitude, Convergence and other international festivals and clubs, will be on DJ duty, while the electronic music and art collective will be providing their trademark projections.
More to be announced, as well as special new year menu.
