The LSU AgCenter will host an Agritourism Safety and Emergency Management Workshop PaPa Simpson’s Farm in Arcadia on March 7, 2017.  During this event Marsha Salzwedel, youth safety specialist with the National Children’s Center for Rural and Agricultural Health and Safety in Marshfield, Wisconsin, will be the featured speaker. Ms. Salzwedel will walk participants through the farm highlighting good safety practices, emergency preparedness and record keeping. Dora Ann Hatch, the  LSU AgCenter’s agritourism coordinator, and Dr. Maria Bampasidou, Assistant Professor, Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness at the LSU AgCenter, will discuss steps to becoming a certified agritourism operator  in accordance with the Agritourism Limited Liability Law passed in 2008 to limit liability to those who have agritourism operations. The workshop will end with a presentation entitled, Social Media Tips, from Tanya Ruffin, information technology coordinator with the LSU AgCenter.  The event is FREE,but registration is required. A noon meal and take home materials will be provided to those who register.
