He’s a former print and broadcast journalist, a recovering screenwriter, a nascent storyteller, and in his third decade writing for software companies (English – not code). He also possesses a range of professional performing credits in music, theatre, and improv comedy. A Brooklyn native, Jerry graduated from Northwestern University. He began his journalism career in Chicago and his high tech career in Seattle. He currently resides in the San Francisco Bay Area with his two dogs. He has never stopped searching for good pastrami. Follow Jerry at @jdfranklin; friend Jerry at facebook.com/jerryfranklinonstage; hug Jerry at – well, anywhere and anytime you’re within hugging distance. ❤ Danielle K.L. Gregoire is the producer of the Seattle Moth storySLAM, the founder of the Comedy Womb and started a storytelling show to help comedians deal with sorrow called A Necessary Sadness. She is a storyteller, comedian, and a spoken word poet and has taught hundreds of workshops on finding your voice for children through the elderly. She has a special interest in stories of the struggles and joys of mental health, queerness, and spends her days parenting two precocious youngsters. She has also, once, taken off her top on stage for charity while MCing at a poly-strip event, and is excited to be a part of Bawdy Storytelling again! ❤ Allena Gabosch, Executive Director of the Center For Sex Positive Culture (www.thecspc.org) and the Foundation for Sex Positive Culture (www.thefspc.org) has been active in the sex positive movement practically from its beginning; producing educational and social events for the sex-positive community since 1990. She speaks on many sex-positive subjects at colleges and conferences, with an emphasis on BDSM and Polyamory. She is the Producer of the Seattle Erotic Art Festival (www.seattleerotic.org) In her less than mundane non-kinky life she loves good food(especially bacon), politics , Seattle and is a former commissioner with the Seattle LGBT Commission. She is a kinky bisexual, polyamorous switch and considers herself extremely blessed with many amazing and loving people in her "polycule." ❤ Douglas Gale has been a writer and performer in Seattle for over ten years. His current project is called Radio LARP, a genre fiction radio play podcast that was at least good enough to be in Bumbershoot. Episodes can be found at http://radiolarp.com ❤ Ben Haley is the Producer and Head Unicorn at Salon of Shame, Seattle's bimonthly, eternally sold-out comedic diary-reading series at Theater Off Jackson and Cornish Playhouse. He recently (and happily) became a full-time househusband and philosopher. Ben and his partner are raising their two sons Sagan and Kepler to be smart, feminist nerds. His shenanigans can be followed at facebook.com/salonofshame (fun!) and instagram.com/ben_o_thing (pretentious!). Ben isn't bad looking all things considered, and always up for hugs. ❤ Cathy Sorbo began her solo stand-up career in Seattle during the mid-eighties, sporting a variety of unsavory hairdo’s and wearing earrings larger than her own face. San Francisco was the next stop for Cathy, where she cut her comedy teeth as a solo performer. The city housed several busy comedy clubs and Cathy garnered lots of attention and favorable reviews, being called “Brilliant But Unheralded” and a “Notable Arrival” by the San Francisco Weekly. She was described in San Francisco Focus Magazine as “the illegitimate child of Groucho Marx and Imogene Coca.” Four years in San Francisco and a nine month 200 city college tour later, Cathy jumped the puddle to London, England where a healthy stand-up scene was just beginning to blossom. There Cathy took part in pub shows, cabaret, and large shows at theaters like The Hackney Empire, where she was showcased in the annual New Act Of The Year show. Her stand-up was featured in a radio ad for Tampax that was aired throughout the British Isles. Cathy stayed one year in London, then returned to the United States, choosing Seattle as her home base and residence. 1991 through 1997 brought Cathy to the world of television and international comedy festivals. She appeared on shows aired by HBO and Showtime, and developed an animated pilot as well as produced interstitial spots with MTV in New York. The 1995 U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen said of Cathy “Sorbo rips into her work with such humor and insight that her act appeals to just about everybody.” Her credits include national voice-over work for radio and television ads and and mc-ing corporate events. She has also been a regular performer on NPR’s news/satire shows Rewind and Weekend America and spent nine seasons as the sideline announcer for The Rat City Roller Girls. CURRENT PROJECTS — Songs of Filth Review: With a songlist that ranges from classic rock to 1970s Brit Pop to Broadway showtunes, Cathy Sorbo presents her "Songs of Filth Revue”, an act comprised of stand-up comedy complemented by a karaoke-inspired performance of songs you know and love with lyrics rewritten by Cathy loaded with her signature cheerful vulgarity. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=veqd6jugvqo — Zoom Bella - Cathy shares vocals with Joey Kline in this 8-piece all-star Vintage Vegas-era swing band www.zoomabella.com — The Science of Deduction - Cathy fronts this synth-pop-dance-throb trio taking you back to the delicious 1980s with original arrangements. www.thescienceofdeductionband.com CATHY HAS APPEARED WITH Ellen DeGeneres, Bill Hicks, Eddie Izzard, Jay Leno, Sam Kinison, Steven Wright, Dave Attel, Louis Black, Joan Jett, Buster Poindexter, Little River Band, Alice in Chains LIVE APPEARANCES Seattle Bash EMP New Year's Eve show (producer/performer) Clean and Free convention MC for Critical Art Ensemble benefit ConWorks, Seattle MC for The Seattle Weekly 2005 Music Awards Host and MC of The Elvis Invitational Experience Music Project The Comedy Central Road Show with Dave Attel, Louis Black and Mitch Hedberg, The Paramount Theater Opening act for Puppetry Of The Penis The Moore Theater Live panel guest for Politically Incorrect With Bill Maher The Paramount Theater Host and MC for The Lover's Package Ladies Night Seattle Depression After Delivery conference Home Care Association of Washington conference MC for The Bartender's Ball Seattle Bumbershoot Arts Festival The Green Faire London, England The Hackney Empire Theatre London, England HBO/Comedy Arts Festival Aspen, Colorado Just For Laughs Comedy Festival Montreal, Canada Smirnoff/Mule Comedy Festival Cape Town, South Africa ❤ Sexual Folklorist Dixie De La Tour founded Bawdy Storytelling - the Nation’s original sex and storytelling series -a decade ago, despite being told repeatedly that nobody would get onstage to tell their stories of sex, kink and gender (Wrong!).This multi-city live storytelling event welcomes true stories from any and all communities (LGBTQIA, kink, polyamory, swingers, vanilla, and many more) and is bringing sex-positive storytelling to new cities all the time. Dixie and Bawdy Storytelling have been praised by press both big and small; She has been lauded as a "masterful emcee, and her show is everything that works for storytelling—she creates a warm, safe space in which stories can bloom with dark hilarity, salacious textures, and moments of deep connection.” Dixie has hosted and curated Bawdy Storytelling events at Yale Sex Week, the Bondage Awards, the Jewish Community Center of San Francicso, CatalystCon Sexuality Conference, Dark Odyssey, FetFest, and more, as well as her home turf of the Bawdy Mainstage and BawdySlam shows.
