This April, Voci Womens Vocal Ensemble will present ELEMENTS, a concert of beautiful and dramatic choral music about Earth, Air, Fire and Water. The program will include an eclectic mix of choral works in a broad range of musical styles. With pieces ranging from silly to sublime, subtle to powerful, the performances will feature works by favorite composers Johann Strauss, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Gustav Holst and Samuel Barber, and recent composers Ola Gjeilo and others, including two new works by Voci composer-in-residence, Julie Herndon. In honor of Earth Day 2018 (April 21), the concerts also share our appreciation for, and care of, the earth. Voci remember the victims of the Northern and Southern California firestorms with a premiere of Fire-Flowers by Artistic Director Mitchell Covington, based on a poem about the California Fire Poppy, which only blooms after a fire.
