A virtuoso performer and composer who “heralds the trumpet of the future” (Chicago Sun-Times), Brandon Ridenour’s brilliance and self-assurance on the stage led to his victory at the 2014 Concert Artists Guild Victor Elmaleh Competition, as well as the 2006 International Trumpet Guild solo competition and the Morton Gould ASCAP Young Composer Award. During the 2016-17 season, he is engaging in a recital and concert tour that includes nineteen cities in over ten states. He has soloed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the National, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, and Edmonton Symphony Orchestras and performed with the New York Philharmonic, the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, the International Contemporary Ensemble, the Knights, and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra. Other solo performances include at the Kennedy Center, Walt Disney Hall, and Carnegie Hall, including his 2016 Weill Recital Hall debut and a recent Stern Auditorium performance of Penny Lane alongside Sting and James Taylor. Recognized as “a major talent in the making” (Grand Rapids Press), Brandon combines his wide-ranging activities as a soloist and chamber musician with his passion for composing and arranging, resulting in his distinctive artistic voice and vision. His arrangements are showcased in his own performances and also featured by Founders and USEFULChamber, ensembles of which he is a founding member. He is the youngest member ever to join the iconic Canadian Brass, with whom he performed around the world and on television for over seven years, recorded ten albums, and received three Juno Award nominations. In addition, he has recorded three solo albums; the latest is Fantasies and Fairy Tales, featuring his own arrangements of classical masterworks for trumpet and piano with pianist Rachel Kudo.
