The native New Yorker emerged on the Boston folk scene in the early '90s. She crafted her singer-songwriter persona on the Boston coffeehouse scene before being asked by Joan Baez to open for her at a local concert. Williams released her debut album, The Honesty Room, under her own label and became an indie folk hero. Williams's records speak from her soul and reflect her beliefs about religion, commercialism, and relationships. She has carefully crafted her career in a manner with which she lives her life - Organic. In addition to releasing folk classic albums, Williams has authored several books including the health inspired The Tofu Tollbooth. With a dozen albums and years of touring under her belt, Dar Williams has become one of our most treasured folk performers.
