Meleana Brown was raised in Hawaii. Her father is African-American, Portuguese and Hawaiian; her mother is Filipino and Spanish. In addition to singing, Meleana also teaches and dances hula and Tahitian. New Hope Church, on the island of Oahu, is where Meleana started singing with other members of her family. "I love to sing because I feel God has given me a gift. I feel honored to be able to share the gift of music with others,” says Meleana. Meleana was homeschooled along with her two sisters and two brothers. Meleana lived in Japan with her family for a good portion of her growing-up years. The whole family is musically talented. While in Japan they put together a Hawaiian show and performed at various venues. Meleana enjoyed touring in Japan, and years later performed at Tokyo’s Zepp Theater in Odaiba, where she was booked as a "Hawaiian Gospel" act. She brought the house down. In addition to singing & performing, Meleana also modeled in several skincare & hair care marketing campaigns. A TV show called Hawaii Stars was Meleana’s first TV appearance. She was the tiny teen with the big voice. Back in 2003, Meleana was one of the top 12 finalists on the popular TV show, American Idol, in a season that featured Grammy & Academy Award-winning Jennifer Hudson, and Season Three winner, Fantasia. Multi- talented Meleana has performed Gospel, Hawaiian, Classical Opera, Ballads, Pop and R&B nationally & internationally. Meleana was the opening act for Grammy-winning Bruno Mars. Meleana performed alongside Celine Dion’s renowned violinist, Roddy Chung, at a benefit concert in LA. She has also made appearances on hit TV shows like the North Shore and Lost. Hollywood was calling Meleana, so she moved to Los Angeles to pursue her music career. “Music allows me to dream. It inspires me to push through whatever obstacles I am facing in life,” says Meleana. “To write a lyric or sing a song and know that I am touching others is a dream come true.” Recently, Meleana auditioned for Duets on ABC TV and within hours she was singing on national TV along side nine time grammy winner, John Legend.
