The Arizona native grew up listening to Sheryl Crow and Jewel, and taught herself how to play the guitar as a teen. Within weeks of picking up her steel-string, she wrote her first song and scheduled concerts at local Arizona venues. She independently released her debut album, Broken Bracelet, in 2000 to local fanfare and she continued to tour. She was soon noticed by pop group Hanson who invited Branch to open for them at their LA tour dates. In 2001, the 17-year-old signed a deal with Madonna's Maverick Records and hit the studio with legendary producer John Shanks to produce her major label debut. The Spirit Room was released that August and its lead single, "Everywhere", became a hit on the radio and on MTV. For the video, Branch won the Viewer's Choice award at the 2002 MTV Video Music Awards. The album also spawned the hits "All You Wanted" and "Goodbye To You" earning Branch her first Platinum plaque. After receiving success on the country format, Branch decided to go country and moved to Nashville. She recorded the country infused album, Everything Comes and Goes, which was eventually released as an EP in 2010. Branch has been busy touring and recording new material for her upcoming pop-rock album, West Coast Time, which is set for release in 2011.
