Born to Johnny Cash and Vivian Liberto Cash before The Man in Black hit it big in Memphis, Tennessee in 1955. She learned the country music ropes touring with her father after high school before scoring a record deal in 1978. She released her debut album, Right or Wrong, in 1980 and scored three top 25 singles. Her second album, Seven Year Ache, earned her mainstream success. The album featured two #1 hits and earned Cash her first Gold plaque. She took time off to record her third album, Rhythm & Romance, in 1985 and earned a Grammy Award the same year for Best Female Country Vocal Performance. Cash closed out the '80s with her compilation album, Hits 1979-1989, and was honored by Billboard as the Top Singles Artist of the Year. Cash continued to tour and record throughout the '90s and the new millennium. She most recently released The List, in 2009, which debuted at #5 on the Billboard Country Albums chart. She was portrayed in the Academy-Award winning film about her famous father, Walk The Line, and released a children's book and memoir in the 2000s.
