November 5th Hear NoHo! 10:00PM-Cella Gallery-5229 Lankershim Boulevard The Brian Travis Band are, as the name suggests, undoubtedly the vehicle for the rootsy poetic musings of native North Hollywood singer/songwriter Brian Travis. As the band leader, Brian guides his group in a 70's folk-rock direction rounding out a fresh original sound influenced in equal parts by 70's guitar groups such as The Kinks, Neil Young & Tom Petty to modern troubadours Ray LaMontagne, Ben Harper and Brett Dennen. Even though the band name implies strict creative control and a well defined creative vision, The BTB are a bonified "whole is greater than the sum of it's parts" rock 'n roll outfit that not only contribute to the overall group sound, but harken back to a time when bands performed high spirited live shows and consistently delivered heartfelt and sincere recorded material. Together since 2002, The BTB have expanded their fan base well beyond the borders of Los Angeles county, touring all over California and the UK on a regular basis. After writing and recording an all acoustic album with an indie label called Ranch Recording in Santa Barbara, the band returned to LA to recording their most recent effort, 'The Bigger Picture' with Mike Starr as engineer and co-producer at Wagon Wheel Studios in North Hollywood. Two years in the making, “The Bigger Picture” saw a bright start in 2007 with seed money from a private investor. Heading into the studio for one day to cut a single song, The Brian Travis Band emerged with eight. After playing the rough mixes of this new material for a second investor, the band received the finances and encouragement to move forward with additional recording. Brian Travis roused a spirited pre-order campaign that raised enough funds from fans and supporters to ensure the album would be mixed, mastered and duplicated. Benefiting from the smart touch of engineers Will Golden, Al Sgrow and Michael Starr in the studio, with mixing done by Starr, “The Bigger Picture” hadn’t seen the end of human generosity; seeking to help artists in need, the CEO of LA-based Sirenfire Records stepped in at the eleventh hour, fully financing the mastering of “The Bigger Picture” with seasoned studio pro Bob Lanzner. Since the start of his professional songwriting career over 10 years ago, Brian Travis has released 5 CD's of all original material and has performed with international artists such as Michelle Shocked, Gene Loves Jezebel, Reel Big Fish, The Alarm as well as prominent up and coming and established LA artists like, Mieko, Brian Wright, Jim Bianco, Tyrone Wells and many others. Brian Travis and his group celebrated the release of "The Bigger Picture" in May 16th 2009 by playing a sold out show at The Hotel Cafe. The band are currently enjoying critical acclaim and strong physical and digital sales of the new album distributed by www.thebriantravisband.com and Tunecore.
