San Antonio's Alamodome combines the spaciousness of a convention center, the versatility of an arena, and the facilities of a professional sports stadium. It was the former home to the San Antonio Spurs and now schedules a number of collegiate bowls and sporting events. The Alamodome is also well known for featuring widely attended concerts, performing arts events, family shows, and other performances that have sold out tickets and entertained the people of San Antonio.
The Alamodome was built in 1993 to provide the Spurs with an upgraded venue from HemisFair Arena, and to attract an NFL team. However, the Spurs only played at the stadium for nine years before moving to AT&T Center, allowing the venue to schedule a variety of events. The Alamodome currently hosts the annual collegiate football bowl games -- the Alamo Bowl and U.S. Army All-American Bowl -- and has recently become the home of the UTSA Roadrunners. The Alamodome's biggest ticket draw is most likely the many concerts and performances that it hosts, including performing arts events like ballet and the symphony. The stadium also schedules many expositions and shows that would normally be found in convention centers, but are enhanced by the facilities at the Alamodome.
With so many scheduled events, performances, shows, and games at the ever-popular Alamodome, audiences should buy their tickets for any of the above well in advance.
