Apollo16 I went to see Billy Elliot last night for the Grand Opening of the National Tour, Sat Oct 30th. I had heard such wonderful things about Billy Elliot, but I left VERY disappointed. We had a brand new Billy, making his debuted, never preformed before, he was and Asian-American kid Lex Ishimoto. Who couldn't get passed his own accent to do even a passable Geordie or British accent. I don’t understand why they would pass up the best Billy, they for opening night, the other 4 Billy’s all have many performances under there belt. I mean this was opening night!!! It's hard to make the role believable when you throw just anyone in there that can dance and sing. Probably THE WORST show I’ve seen. It was bland, overacted and over hyped. There we so many empty seat all over the theater. On OPENING NIGHT, that should never happen. They should close the balconies, and drop prices in the Grand Tier, and orchestra level. I hear that the Chicago or 1st National Tour is closing in November in stead of January, and that with the holidays coming up. They same might happen to this show, if it make it around the country. Doubtful This show was NOT up to par with Wicked or Jersey Boys. Don’t waster your time or hard earned money.
