December 26, 1910 saw the opening of the London Palladium, a theatre which has more than stood the test of time and which is internationally renowned as a venue for the performing arts and variety shows in particular. Indeed, British entertainment legends Bruce Forsyth, Jimmy Tarbuck and Norman Vaughan all have the London Palladium to thank for their breaks into stardom; the three were hosts of famed variety show, 'Saturday Night at the London Palladium.' Over the years, the London Palladium has welcomed many of the biggest names from the worlds of stage and screen; Harry Houdini, Ivor Novello, Jack Benny, Louis Armstrong, Nat King Cole, Jerry Lewis, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Shirley Bassey, Bing Crosby, Marvin Gaye, Phillip Schofield, Adam Garcia and Diana Ross are just a few of those featured on the London Palladium schedule in the past. In 2000, the London Palladium was purchased by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber's Really Useful Group and Bridgepoint Capital. 2002 saw a revamp of the venue's interior, including the removal of the famous revolving stage, in order to make way for the state-of-the-art technology required for the newest and now record-breaking production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. The London Palladium now belongs exclusively to The Really Useful Group Ltd.
