The Metropolis is one of Montreal’s most historically fascinating venues. Since first opening in 1884 as an ice rink and summer theater, the Metropolis has survived two fires and changed operations a multitude of times. Indeed, in it's 100 year plus history, Metropolis has functioned as a theater, cinema, adult movie house, nightclub and live performance venue. Time and time again, the Metropolis has risen from its ashes, bettering itself each and every time. Today, the Metropolis Montreal has become one of the city’s leading venues for live entertainment and special events.

With a seating capacity of only about 2,300, Metropolis is considered a mid-sized venue. However, what it lacks in size, the Metropolis makes up for in reputation - a reputation which enables the venue to attract some of the biggest names in showbiz to its stage. MGMT, Coldplay, Alice Cooper, Louis CK, New Found Glory, Cirque du Soleil, Radiohead, Imogen Heap, Travis, INXS, Jason Mraz and Vampire Weekend are just a few of those featured on the Metropolis schedule in the past.

kortneyfoley I'm wondering if I'm going to the MCR april 20th show here how hard it would be to get a decent place in the crowd..... the capacity is 2300 so would i have to get there mega early in order to get up front? is the place usually really packed and hard to move around or would it depend on the show? any info would be great. I've never been to a big venue.. ><
