If you're attending a convention or trade show in Portland, chances are you're headed to the Portland Metropolitan Exposition Center. The Expo Center is the only place in the Portland area large enough to schedule everything from knife and gun shows to exhibits from Oregon Cats, Inc. Located in Kenton just next to Interstate 5, the spacious convention center attracts visitors from Oregon, Washington, and all over the United States with events of every variety.
The Portland Expo Center was built in 1921 as a site for livestock auctions, and was later used as a site for Japanese American internment during WWII. In 1970, it became the home of the Multnomah County Fair until 1994, when it became the property of the City of Portland. Since that time, the Expo Center has served Portland with annual scheduled events like the Portland Better Living Home and Garden Show, the Portland Antique and Collectible Show, and the Christmas Bazaar. Five meeting halls with a combined capacity of 26,162 make the Portland Expo Center the best place around for large events.
The Portland Metropolitan Exposition Center always has a schedule full of interesting and exciting events, so be sure to check its event calendar often to avoid missing any of these truly great shows.
